About Alta Floresta

The city of Alta Floresta, which was founded in 1976 in south of the Amazon Forests, the world's most rain-fed region, is now capital of Mato Grosso, one of Brazil's leading provinces. Today, the city's economy is based on agriculture, as rapid growth and development have been realized thanks to the gold mines discovered in the surroundings after the city was established. Following the depletion of gold reserves, the managers who are preparing new projects for the recruitment of a population of 50 thousand are trying to develop the city with factories and dam constructions.

Cristalino State Park and the Natural History Museum reflect the texture of the city while Avenue Lake, located within the city limits, is a sight to watch the view. Regular flights have been organized to the cities of Brazil from Alta Floresta Airport since its establishment.
