About Auckland Airport

Auckland Airport is the largest and busiest airport in New Zealand.  In 1928 the airport was first built with a small runway.  As a result of the work to transform the airport in 1960, regional flights operated for many years.  The airport opened as the main airport in the region in 1966 with great enthusiasm.  In 1977, a new international terminal was built at the airport to meet the growing international passenger potential.  In 2009 a project was started for the renovation and extension of the terminal building that had been in operation for many years and this was completed in 2013.  From Auckland Airport there are flights to 48 international destinations, which is the preferred airport to travel to New Zealand by almost all foreign passengers.  Auckland Airport consists of two terminal buildings and is used by more than 18 million passengers annually.  In 2014, the airport released their 30-year vision project for the future, for the airport to be converted into one of the largest airports in the world.
