Hotan is a historical city located on the Silk Road. It is in the southwest of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in China. The region's oldest and most important source of livelihood is silk manufacture. The richness of the city in the present day and history comes from the nephrite jade mined from a dried river bed which the people refer to as Yurungkash. Kunlun Lake Park is a large park with a skating rink, zoo, canteen and restaurant. Located in the deserted part of the city, Mailikeawati Ancient City is a remarkable structure made up of a large sand plateau and having mountains behind it. Another historical building to be seen is a rather old structure named Hetian Millennium Tomb.
