Corfu Island, one of the islands of Greece, is located off of the northwestern coast of the country. To get to Corfu you can fly to the island with connecting flights via Athens, or take a boat from the different harbors of the country or from Albania.

One of the first places that you should see during your visit is the historic city center, which is named as the economic and cultural heart of the island. Here you can see some of the most spectacular old buildings, taste the most delicious food and mezes of the Greek cuisine in the restaurants and taverns on the seafront, or shop for souvenirs before you leave Corfu.

Some of the structures that should be seen in the island are the Pantokrator Monastery, which is built on the hill with the same name as the monastery, Glyfada Beach which is known as one of the most beautiful beaches of the island and Paleokastrisa which is one of the most interesting places of the island with its stunning sea. In addition, Kassiopi, a quiet village about 40 kilometers outside the center, is also worth seeing with its clean sea and colorful structures.

Since Corfu International Airport is very close to the city center, it is possible to reach Corfu city center in a short time. The cost of this transportation doesn’t also increase much. You can get on a taxi or bus for travelling to the city center. You can also rent a car at the airport. Don’t hesitate to ask questions since the Greek people are very kind to tourists.

Taxi

You can see the taxis waiting for their passengers at the exit of the airport terminal. You can reach the city center for a very affordable fare. You can also give some tip to the taxi driver. This amount can be 5-10% of the total fare.

Car Rental

If you are planning to travel around the island during your visit, you can rent a car at the airport. You can reach the city center in about 10 minutes by driving through the route 25. Don’t forget that the name of the city can be written as Kerkyra on the signs.

Bus

You can get to the city center by getting on the bus routes 5 or 6 from the bus stop located at the exit of the airport. Travelling to the city center by bus lasts about 10 minutes.
